Standard catalog blue and case colored First Generation Single Action Army. Colt manufactured the Single Action Army and marked it in .44 S&W Special, .44 S&W and .44 Russian; for a very short time and in scarce quantity they stamped the left side of the barrel "RUSSIAN & S&W SPECIAL .44". The exact number of those so-marked revolvers is unknown but it is considered very scarce, with total production estimated at less than 500. The barrel retains approximately 75% of the original factory blue finish with muzzle and high edge wear and some minor freckling. Front sight has been slightly filed down. 30% blue on ejector rod housing. 20% blue on trigger guard. Straps are grey patina. Frame retains approximately 20-30% case colors, some bright. Even the hammer has generous amounts of case colors. Back of cylinder is stamped "73" (last two digits of serial number) and retains approximately 30-40% original blue, balance patina. The Colt grips have the serial number etched on both panels. Indexes and locks up tight and has a strong, clean bore.
