These large New Service Target revolvers were made for competitive shooting in the English style that required a non-adjustable high front sight and a rear sight that allowed wind drift only. Features flat top frame, six shot, double action, blued finish, checkered grip straps, checkered trigger, fire blue hammer and trigger, case colored ejector rod, and deluxe checkered diamond walnut Fleur-de-Lis grips. This is an extremely early model manufactured in 1902 with all early features including non-tapered barrel, Colt New Service pony on left side with Maltese cross. English proofs on all cylinder flutes. English proof marks under barrel. This gun is in beautiful condition, retaining 97% or better high polish original factory blue with some slight rub wear on trigger guard. Lovely grips are near mint. Action indexes and locks up light new. Cylinder has light drag line. Near mint bore. These were arguably the finest and most expensive double action revolvers built by Colt at the time. Comes in a repurposed wood box with boxes of Dominion ammunition and Eley Bros. ammunition. Includes a card that states this revolver was used in 1909 by A.J. Raven who won the Champion Revolver Shot of the U.K., but we have nothing to support this.
