This revolver was the first of the swing-out cylinder Colt series. Features six shot, double action, blued finish and Colt gutta percha grips. This particular model was manufactured for the Navy. Features the trident stamped on left trigger guard and cylinder release. Butt is stamped "USN / (anchor) / 38 DA / 8879 / FHS" for Frank H. Schofield who inspected Colt Model 1895 Navy double action revolver. Gun indexes and locks up correctly. Strong, clean bore. Revolver retains approximately 60% high polish factory blue, balance brown patina with the usual storage dings found on this model. Excellent grips. Always popular with Navy collectors and seldom seen.
