Standard early pre-World War I issue. Left side of slide has the 1913 patent date with pony at rear. Right side of slide is stamped "MODEL 1911 U.S. ARMY". Left side of frame has the "WGP" of Walter Penfield (1911-1914). Has a replaced blued barrel, simply stamped "J" on toggle. Frame has all correct small checkered parts. Features wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, long smooth trigger, proper era front and rear sights. Frame retains approximately 70% of the period blue. Straps are grey. Slide has similar blue appearance to frame which would indicate it was redone at one time as well. Magazine is a later style pinned and tempered replacement. Excellent diamond checkered walnut grips. Fine bore and action. Very nice example of a third year production.
