Features full octagon barrel with full magazine, blued finish, sporting front sight, elevator adjustable rear sight, varnished two piece American walnut stocks with factory checkered forearm, and custom Germanic hand carved buttstock with crescent buttplate. The Large Frame Colt Lightning was produced in very limited numbers. These were hard used and are rarely found in fine condition. This rifle, chambered in the Winchester .38-56 cartridge, shows use but was also a treasured possession to have the expense of having the wrist custom embellished. Barrel and magazine retain over 30% of the factory blue finish with balance turning patina with bright edges. The receiver on the right side has over 60% thinning blue with balance turning, the left side of the receiver is a mottled brown with scattered pitting from exposure to the elements. Walnut stocks are good with several small shrinkage cracks with a slight loss of material evident on the forearm. The buttstock is very good with its period custom applied finish remaining and the stock is full sized with no material loss. Bore is dark with visible rifling action functions properly
