Features round blued barrel, traditional musket pattern rear sight, blued receiver and small parts, and two piece walnut stocks. These Musket Model 1873 Winchesters were sold extensively in South America and numerous contracts in Europe. According to noted author George Madis, a total production of just over 36,000 of these muskets where manufactured with most being produced for foreign shipments. This example retains 20% to 30% blue finish on receiver with the barrel being mostly a light chocolate patina. The two piece walnut stocks remain in good overall condition with one rear of distress and material loss at rear of full length forearm. A small stress crack that appears stable is emanating from rear of receiver tang is evident on buttstock. Typical small abrasions and bruising on stocks however the gun overall is far better than average. The bore is very strong with strong sharp rifling with very light traces of darkness in grooves. Mechanics are in good working order.
