Manufactured 1884 to 1902. For whatever reason, very few Colt Lightnings were made with any special order features. 30" barrel is 4" longer than standard and extremely rare to find. This rifle features full octagon barrel, full magazine, Rocky Mountain front sight, sporting rear sight, blued finish, walnut rifle stock and two piece checkered walnut forend. This rifle remains in lovely all original condition with the exception of some added finish to wood. Edges and legends are sharp. The finish on barrel and magazine is a very pleasing, soft, homogenous, blue-brown patina. Frame retains flashes of original blue but is basically the same tone as the barrel. The forend exhibits sharp checkering with no cracks or chips. Walnut stock is excellent, proud to metal with no cracks; just some added varnish. Strong, clean rifled bore and fine action. Soft and well cared for appearance.
