There were only about 700 of these made for the U.S. Navy. Round blued steel barrel retained by two bands, breech stamped "P / W.M.F. / (anchor)" for inspector William M. Folger. Front sight/bayonet lug and adjustable rear sight graduated to 1,200 yards. Blued action with proper Lee Patent markings and serial number, top of bolt stamped "H.N." for Henry Nettleton. Blued magazine with flat right side and bar on left side. Steel furniture. Plain walnut stock. Complete with correct steel cleaning rod. This rare Navy longarm is in good condition, overall. The barrel retains traces of thinned original blue finish, mostly turned to plum brown. Action retains a mostly grey patina with some marks from use and wear. Markings are very good, action is strong and functions well, bore very good, mostly shiny with some minor spotting. Magazine retains about 70-80% thinning blue finish and furniture mostly turned to grey with generous traces of blue in protected areas. Stock is good but has been sanded and refinished, no visible markings.
