Features full octagon barrel, full length magazine, blue finish overall, case colored hammer and lever, and two piece walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Chambered for the .50-95 Express cartridge. Proper two line Winchester address barrel markings with chamber marked "50 CAL". Dust cover is marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS 50 CAL, 95 Grs". These "Big Fifties" were used extensively in the late Buffalo hunting trade as well as in Africa and India. The majority of these rifles are found with English proofs as the British utilized these guns extensively in their colonies abroad. Good condition overall with walnut stocks showing oil darkness from use and handling. One chip exists from forearm at rear right top edge, otherwise fine. Barrel and receiver are basically without any remaining finish and have turned a combination of bright steel and patina. Bore is exceptionally fine and mechanics are crisp and functioning. Documented with letter from the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Letter documents the rifles configuration as: Rifle, Cal, .50 Express , Plain Trigger, Received in warehouse June 1881 and shipped to customer No. 25932 the same month.
