Manufactured 1879-1886. Features octagon barrel with full length magazine, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight and sporting rear sight with checkered sides. Top flat of barrel forward of rear sight is marked "WHITNEYVILLE ARMORY CT. U.S.A. KENNEDY". Chamber area is has the caliber marking of .45-60 on top barrel flat. According to Flaydermans Guide of Antique Firearms there where only about 15,000 of these rifles produced in total in two frame sizes as well as rifle and carbine configuration. These rifles are rarely found in fine original condition such as this. Very fine condition with over 90% factory applied blue finish remaining. The fine straight grained American walnut stocks retain most all of their factory applied varnish with typical slight wear and finish loss at wrist and forearm. This example is one of the finer condition Kennedy rifles observed with crisp mechanics and fine bore with sharp rifling.
