Circa 1850-1870, England. Maker's plaque "John Weiss & Son, LTD. 287, Oxford Ste, London". The surgical instruments arranged in fitted apertures in three removable trays. Most are impressed with the mark of the manufacturer. Some hallmarked. All fitted within the original brass bound, mahogany case. The lid retains the original inventory and illustration of the positioning of the instruments, affixed to the inside. Instruments appears intact and well maintained for the age. Case with normal and expected in use wear. Shrinkage crack in center of lid, surface as original, brass strapping, hinges and latches are operational. Very good overall.

Item Dimensions: Case: 18" x 7".
EXCEPTIONAL CIVIL WAR SURGEONS KIT.
