According to records Springfield Armory sent surplus Colts in May of 1917, having stopped production at serial number 127978. The unused serial numbers were reassigned to Colt where they were used as replacement numbers over the next few years. Serial numbers in this range (128617 - 133186) appear to be Colt made receivers. The slide on left side has the Springfield manufacturers stamp with Ordnance bomb and stamped "MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY". Left side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and bears no inspector stamp. Right side of frame simply has serial number. All parts are typical Colt 1917 era to include long smooth trigger, checkered slide stop and safety, checkered wide spur hammer and flat mainspring housing with loop. The diamond checkered grips are of Colt pattern and not Springfield. Magazine is a blued and tempered pinned base with lanyard. Blued barrel is stamped with the intertwined "HP" used on Colt serial range 210387 to 710000. Frame retains 95% of the original military blue finish. Slide retains approximately 85% blue with balance simply turning soft patina with razor sharp legends. Fine bore and action. This is an unusual hybrid late-war combination Colt-Springfield 1911 with beautiful grips.
