Approximately 50,617 manufactured 1942-43, the majority of which had 4" barrels. Colt made very few 2" barrel models and they are considered quite scarce and desirable among military aficionados. This is one such example in fine condition. Left side of frame is stamped with Ordnance bomb. Left side of barrel is stamped "COLT COMMANDO .38 SPECIAL". It is a six shot, double action with brown Colt logo composition grips. This is the early model with the half moon front sight, checkered hammer, smooth trigger. This revolver retains approximately 95% of the arsenal finish with razor sharp stampings. Shows light high edge wear on cylinder. Excellent grips. Fine action and strong bore.
