A total of about 73,000 Model 1873 types were made between 1873 and 1877. Blued, round rifled steel barrel with small V / P/ (eagles head) on left side near breech. Fitted with correct four-step Cadet ramp sight. Breech block stamped "MODEL / 1873 / (eagle) / US". Lockplate blued and stamped in center with large eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873". Correct Model 1873 furniture. Buttplate tang stamped "US". Walnut stock with clear "ESA" cartouche on left side for Erskin S. Allin. Stock also stamped "MG/59" in front of buttplate tang. This is completely correct Model 1873 in very good condition. Barrel retains approximately 80% blue finish, somewhat turned to brown. Bore has clear rifling and some black powder corrosion. Blued finish on breech block with majority turned to brown and silver. Lockplate retains about 40% thinning and fading blue finish with some freckling. Furniture has generous traces of blue, somewhat turned to brown. Stock is good with clear cartouche and some scattered marks from use and edge wear.
