Round barrel with the standard two line Winchester address with "50 CAL" marking forward of rear sight, English proof marks on chamber and receiver bridge, dustcover factory marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS .50 Cal, 95 Grs.", deluxe checkered straight stocks with steel shotgun butt. Brass cartridge elevator is marked "50-95". Assembly numbers found on lower tang are numbers matching to wooden stock mortise. Two piece XX highly figured crotch walnut stocks are factory finished in a fine piano varnish. Tang is also marked with "XX" indicating the grade of the deluxe wood. Condition is very good overall. The stock finish remains very fine with typical slight wear at wrist and forearm from handling. Two small white inlays have been added to forearm at very front. Buttstock is equally fine with some very slight cracking and or hazing in varnish finish. Barrel and receiver have both turned an attractive dove gray finish slightly darker patina in protected areas. The bore is outstanding, being bright with sharp rifling. Action functions properly and smoothly. This is a very good overall Big 50 and would certainly be a great shooting collectible. CORRECTION: Factory research confirms all features. Shipped April 22nd, 1880.
