Gun (A) has a full length matted top rib with brass front bead. Top of left tube is marked "Armi Famars" and there is a band of engraving at the breech. Barrel flats marked with proof stamps, serial number, and date code; and rear lump with the names "Franco" and "Primo" which are the names of the craftsmen that worked on this gun. Single trigger, auto-ejectors, non-automatic safety. Coin finished action is engraved in superb detail large game scene featuring Setters in marsh scene on left side with rising ducks surrounded by detailed woods and grasses. A similar scene is found on the right side with the Setters on the marsh edge all of which is surrounded by well executed shaded floral scroll engraving. The fences are fully engraved with shaded floral scroll. Bottom of action with an exceptionally well detailed field portrait of two Setters surrounded by shaded scroll engraving which extends on to trigger plate and to trigger guard. Trigger plate with engraver signature on right side "G. Cargnel", highly regarded engraver, now deceased. Long tang trigger guard is also scroll engraved with serial number noted at tang. Top of action and top tang is near fully engraved in shaded scroll engraving. Buttstock is checkered in two point pattern with tear drops behind action and is of beautiful straight grained honey colored walnut with full checkered butt. Splinter forend is checkered in diamond pattern with engraved iron and scroll engraved Anson style release. Extremely fine and only very lightly used. This gun retains nearly all original finish to both wood and metal with only minor handling marks. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. The long tang trigger guard is most shaded scroll engraved with serial number noted at tang. Right side of trigger is signed "G. Cargnel." Buttstock is two point pattern checkered through the wrist with tear drops behind action and checkered butt. Splinter forearm is diamond pattern checkered and has scroll engraved iron and scroll engraved Anson type release. Extremely fine and only very lightly used. This gun retains nearly all original finish to both wood and metal with only minor handling marks. Bores are bright and shiny. Mechanics are crisp. This is a gorgeous pair of guns that would do well on any plantation hunt!
