Barrel with "S A 8-42" chamber date. Early front sight and locking bar rear sight assembly. Three piece American walnut stocks have strong "SA EMcF" in box cartouche. Solid pin in forearms retainer early square cut operating rod. All interior components appear to be early Springfield and no evidence of refinish or restoration is present. This is a very fine specimen of an early WWII Springfield M1 Garand rifle. Very good overall. Socks have very strong inspections. Finish appears to be original with no evidence of sanding. A small sliver of wood is missing at the rear hand guard above the operating rod. Bore is bright with strong rifling 3 throat measures 5.
