Manufactured 1942 with Winchester proofed barrel with drawing number on top of chamber. No date of barrel manufacture observed. Locking bar rear sight. Winchester components observed include: barrel, bolt, trigger assembly, hammer, and safety. Early narrow wing front sight with single slot gas plug. Three piece walnut stocks are properly inspected and cartouched "WRA"/"GHD" in large box. The stocks still have the Winchester reddish hue finish. These early Winchesters are frequently found with English proofs, this rifle is the exception with no foreign proofs. TE reading: 4.5. ME reading: 3. Good condition overall. All parts are correct for a 1942 Winchester M1 Garand. Metal retains over 80% of its green-grey parkerized finish. The three piece wood stocks have had addition finish added but only the rear handguard shows any sign of any sanding. Comes with proper leather World War II sling.
