Octagon barrel with full magazine. Case colored forearm cap, receiver, hammer, lever and trigger. Comes with straight grain American walnut. Carrier lifter is marked "32 CAL". Buttplate is case colored and absent of any trapdoor. Front sight is of a German silver insert, rear sight is a short, early model acorn type sight with checkered edges. Third Model receiver with integral dust cover rail. Barrel retains 95-96% blue with some surface discoloration towards the end of muzzle. Magazine tube is 96-97% blue as is magazine tube guide ring. Case colored receiver retains 96-98% bright case colors on left side and 95% bright case colors on right side with balance turning slightly mellow. Loading gate retains 98% of its dark nitre blue. Hammer is 95-96% case colored and sports a drag line. Dark case colors on the flats of lever with bottom retaining a dark patina. Bottom tang fits receiver as if it has never been removed with about 90% case colors and balance turning a light patina. Trigger is of a light patina. Stock has few impressions with very light surface scratches. Buttplate retains 90% case colors mellowing to a light pattern, no trapdoor in buttplate. Overall, no chips or cracks are evident in the wood. Overall condition is extremely fine. Bore is excellent with sharp rifling. Cycles properly and mechanics are fine. Serial No. 123728 shipped April 30th, 1883 as a .32 caliber octagon rifle with case hardened finish. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
