Manufactured 1922. Barrel dated "SA 8-22" with traditional Springfield 1903 blade front sight. Lyman receiver sight. Blue finish overall with polished early bolt with no head space adjustment. One piece American walnut stock with finger groves and single retaining band, sling swivels and early extended steel checkered butt plate. Rifle is very fine overall with no apparent upgrades. The blue finish is excellent with slight finish loss at muzzle as is typical. Trigger guard and magazine area have lost about 20% of their finish with the balance of the bright blue remaining. Rifle still has the early pattern long five shot magazine. Stocks are excellent with minor handing marks but no cracks or material loss. No cartouches are evident. This is a very fine and honest early 1922 with no upgrades. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Mechanics are in proper order and function properly. These rifles are typically found well used and refinished. This example has been cared for and shows minimal use. CORRECTION: Social security number has been lightly etched on floorplate.
