He worked in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania between 1826 and 1830, then in Nottingham Township in Washington County between 1831 and 1846. Brass furniture includes a pierced and engraved four-piece patchbox with a familiar Western Pennsylvania finial, the lid is engraved with floral scrolls. Full sideplate and toeplate are engraved. Figured full-length maple stock of typical Western Pennsylvania form with double line incised borders along forend on both sides and relief panel around comb. Very good condition overall. Barrel retains a light to medium brown patina with some darker areas and some corrosion at breech. Lockplate retains a grey patina with scattered freckling. Brass retains a mellow patina and has some scattered marks from use. Stock has some scattered age cracks and marks from use, less than 1" replaced professionally at muzzle.
