Probably Southern, circa 1820-1840. Octagonal barrel is unmarked, flintlock plate stamped "JAMES M. COOPER/PITTSBURGH/WARRANTED" with stamp engraved designs, reinforced cock, and waterproof pan. Plain brass triggerguard, buttplate, and toeplate, double set triggers. Full-length figured maple stock of southern form, complete with original rope-burn decorated ramrod. Very good condition, overall. Barrel retains a light brown patina with some scattered marks and some freckling at breech. Lock appears to be in original flintlock configuration and retains a spotted grey patina. Brass retains a mellow unpolished patina and stock is very good with some scattered marks from use.
