Full octagon barrel with full length magazine. Chambered for the .44-40 cartridge. Case colored receiver with case colored forend cap, hammer, lever, and shotgun buttplate. Thick base tang sight with sporting front sight with nickel silver insert. Elevator adjustable rear sight with checkered sides. Second Model with screw attached dust cover rail. Mounted with straight grained American walnut stocks. Equipped with set trigger. A true classic example of the Winchester 1873 rifle, the gun that won the West. Very good overall as partially expert restored by Turnbull restoration in 2003. The case colored components are virtually indistinguishable from original factory applied finishes. The blue finished barrel and magazine are equally indistinguishable as they have been slightly distressed and aged to appear authentic. The American walnut stocks are still a very proud fit and have had an additional application of finish applied with no indication of sanding. Truly a very aesthetically pleasing rife that has been masterfully restored. Bore is good with strong rifling with small areas of mottled pitting and darkness in the grooves of the rifling. Mechanics are in proper functioning order and action is crisp. Set trigger works properly. CORRECTION: It has come to our attention that the barrel and magazine tube have a restored blue finish.
