Heavy rifled octagonal steel barrel with steel under rib and patent breech with long tang, buckhorn rear sight and German silver front blade sight. Flat stamp engraved percussion lockplate. Features double set triggers and iron furniture. Walnut half-stock with pewter end-cap. Left side of stock with carved "A" opposite the lockplate. This well made rifle has features seen on plains rifles, Hawken rifles, and Tennessee rifles. Good to fair condition, all iron and steel components have a heavy brown patina with freckled surface. Lock markings worn and does not hold on cock. Stock very good with some scattered marks from use. This is a nice example of a well built primitive percussion rifle, possibly for Buffalo or large game hunting.
