Manufactured 1882. Chambered for the 38-40 (38 WCF) cartridge this full octagon full magazine model 1873 has crescent butt and two piece American walnut stocks. Mounted with a Beech folding front sight and a period replacement fixed rear sight. Third Model variation with integral dust cover guide rail. Blue and case color finished with varnished stocks. The iconic Winchester 1873 was known as the gun that won the west. The 38-40 cartridge was a great chambering as it developed a relatively high velocity with a great amount of energy. Condition, Very good overall with fine bore with strong rifling. Mechanics are properly functioning and action is crisp. Factory applied blue finish is overall thinning with approximately 40% remaining and balance turning a pleasant patina. Cases colors on hammer and lever are visible in protected areas only with balance being a very pleasant and uncleaned patina. This rifle is a fresh to market gun and has a very untouched appearance. The wood stocks are excellent with most all of the factory varnish remaining and just showing a wonderful aged look with no real distress.
