Manufactured 1944. Typical mid-war Remington Rand stamped with maker on left side of slide. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M1911A1 US ARMY" on right side of frame along with Ordnance wheel. Features serrated slide stop, checkered safety, checkered spurless hammer, checkered short trigger, serrated arched mainspring housing with loop, Keyes marked brown composite grips and pinned base parkerized magazine. "FJA" (Frank Atwood) inspector stamp on left side. "P" at magazine release and top of slide. High Standard marked blued barrel; bore is excellent. Pistol has seen very little use; retains 98% of its original matte green GI finish. Grips are near mint. Nearly unimproveable Remington Rand dating to mid-war with very light takedown line and virtually no wear on straps. CORRECTION: From the collection of Kent V. Bissel.
