Measures 7" in length and stands 4" tall, possibly American and engraved in the style of a powder horn using polychrome reds and greens. Light wood, possibly maple. The hinged wings, which no longer latch in place, are decorated with feather patterns and borders. The section under the wings is hinged and opens to expose the hollowed out body, which is finished to use as a storage compartment. The sides, tail, and head are also engraved "en suite" with fine engraving. Probably 18th or early 19th century.
