You can find the matching serial number written in pencil on inside right grip panel and stamped on barrel and cylinder. Known as the .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 Third Change in scarce Target Model. Manufactured 1909 to 1915. Built on the square butt K frame with five screw, pinned barrel, round top and high Patridge front sight, target adjustable rear sight, blue finish, case colored trigger and humpback hammer, and gold medallion diamond checkered walnut grips. This revolver has seen little to no use; shows a light drag line, light muzzle wear and a 1/4" spot of flaking at top of frame. Bright case colors and near mint grips. Near mint bore and as new action. These pre-war Smith & Wesson target models were some of the most finely crafted revolvers to date and this example is no exception. These were in direct competition with the Colt Officers Model Match.
