Gun A is built on the K frame, Gun B and C were built on the N frame. All three are five screw models, six shot, double action, blued finish, with numerous English proof marks. All have matching numbers, all have case colored hammers and triggers, all have pre-war Smith & Wesson medallion diamond checkered grips, all are in perfect working order, all in original finish, have fine bore and actions, none have been trimmed. Gun A has 85% original finish. Gun B has 60% original finish. Gun C has 85% original finish and is engraved on left side J.V. Truscott. We found the following on J.V. Truscott's death:
"SOLDIERS' DEATHS.
SERGEANT J. V. TRUSCOTT.
The Rev. W. H. Holtham received word on Friday to convey the sad news to Mr. and Mrs. J. Truscott, of Casley-street, Long Gully, that their son, Sergeant J. Victor Truscott, had died from pneumonia and septic trench foot in St. John's Hospital, England. He was 22 years and 11 monthsold, and enlisted for active service in July, 1915, leaving Bendigo in December. Sergeant Truscott spent six months in Egypt,and then went to France. Prior to enlisting he was employed at the Bendigo post office. He was held in highest esteem by a wide circle of friends, who will sincerely regret his death."
All three of these handguns would have been used by the British Military during the First World War. With one identified to a particular solider.
