Barrel is stamped "RIA 2-12". Offered is a very early, all original, 1912 dated Model 1903 with all proper parts and original blue finish. Rear sight has the dished, knurled knobs to 2700 yards. Case colored safety has the serifs. Straight bolt. Frame retains 95% of the original factory high polish blue finish with a tint of patina coming through. Bolt still has much bright blue. Barrel has most of the original blue. Front bayonet band is a smooth, homogenous blue-brown patina. Floorplate is freckled. Age freckling on trigger guard. Cursive proof "P" on wrist. Brilliant cartouche on left side "CN" for Conrad Nelson, seen on Rock Island 1903 rifles manufactured prior to World War I. Stock features wide finger groove, single rear bolt, high hump hand guard and milled checkered buttplate with trapdoor. These high condition, early, high polish blue Model 1903 rifles are getting extremely difficult to find and this one is in excellent condition. TE reading: 2. ME reading: 2. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
