Manufactured 1862. Features round barrel, ratchet loader, brass trigger guard, steel backstrap, rebated cylinder, cut for shoulder stock, military inspected. The barrel is basically a soft patina with fairly sharp legends and no corrosion. Frame retains approximately 20% case colors, balance having patterned out. Cylinder retains nearly 100% of the roll engraved Naval battle scene and retains all original nipples and safety pins. You will find matching numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder. The following inspector marks are present: "C" on left and right side of barrel; "R" on trigger guard; "R" on backstrap; "C" on cylinder. Fairly square screw heads. Cylinder is grey patina. Brass color has softened. Backstrap is a nice mix of blue and soft patina. Grips are excellent with "PVBH" cartouche on left panel for Peter V.B. Havens and "JT" on right side for John Taylor, who signed his oath in Hartford, Connecticut on October 20th, 1862. This revolver functions like new, locks up tight with no slop. Strong, clean rifled bore. A use, but well cared for Civil War era martially marked 1860 with flashes of bright case colors. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
