Manufactured 1911, first year of this model. Features "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" stamp under barrel with "RAC" inspector stamp for Renaldo A. Carr. Back of cylinder is stamped "RAC" as well. Butt is stamped "U.S. ARMY MODEL 1909". "RAC" is stamped on the butt of each walnut grip panel and on the right side of frame; also on right side of frame are the initials "F.B." for Francis Baker who inspected the majority of the Colt Model 1909 revolvers on behalf of the Ordnance Department. these early guns features the high polish colt royal blue finish with fire blued Nitre screws, hammer and trigger. This revolver has seen light use and was well-cared for; even the front grip strap has most of the blue. You will find the rear strap is basically grey patina. There is light muzzle wear. The majority of the visible wear on the cylinder with high edge loss and freckled age spotting; face of cylinder shows no burn signs. Indexes and locks up like new. Bore is near mint. an extremely nice example of a rather difficult to find revolver with any amount of original finish. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
