This commercial Colt Single Action Army was manufactured when Colt was still producing the high finished royal blue as seen on the barrel, housing, cylinder, trigger guard and backstrap. This Colt has all matching numbers. Barrel and housing retain approximately 85% of this early blue, as does cylinder and trigger guard, with 50% remaining on backstrap. The frame retains approximately 40% original case colors, some bright; hammer shows a bit more. It is perfectly fitted with a pair of period special order varnished walnut grips. The screw slots are unmessed with and retain the majority of their bright Nitre blue finish. Indexes and locks up correctly with all four clicks. Bore is near mint. An extremely handsome early 20th century Colt high polish Single Action Army with scarce one piece walnut grips, giving the appearance of an early model. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection. CORRECTION: The cylinder has the rampant Colt trademark stamped on the rear face between the chambers. This revolver was purchased at a major auction on September 12th, 2014 for $20,700.
