The Colt New Service was the largest and strongest revolver ever produced by Colt up to that time. This robust revolver became instantly popular with hunters and outdoorsman that wanted a strong handgun that took the most powerful cartridges of the era, and the New Service fit the bill. This revolver features six shot, double action, blued finish and silver Colt medallion Mother of Pearl grips in near mint condition and a lanyard ring. This example saw little use as it still retains 90% or better original finish. The rear grip strap has turned a plum patina and there is high edge wear at muzzle and cylinder edges but that is the extent of wear. Operates and locks up like a vault with a near mint bore. A fantastic condition New Service in popular caliber. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
