Approximately 7,000 manufactured First Models in 1848-49 only. This example is stamped "US" on left side of frame. Full or partial matching serial numbers can be found on the barrel, frame, cylinder, backstrap, trigger guard, cylinder post, loading lever and wedge. Gun features blued octagon to round barrel, blued cylinder, oval locking lugs, nickel plated square back trigger guard and backstrap, one piece varnished walnut grips, case colored frame, hammer and loading lever. One remaining safety pin. The roll engraved Texas Ranger cylinder remains at 75-80%. Strong traces of case colors on hammer and lever, mostly patterned out on frame. Razor sharp legends. Barrel retains approximately 75% of the bright blue finish with razor sharp edges. Nipples are near mint, as are shields. This gun appears to have been factory or arsenal restored at one time as the bluing looks to be original type high polish Colt blue finish, even the cylinder retains fully half od its high polish blue. 85% nickel plating over some minor denting. Grips are excellent and slightly shy at metal where refinished. Does not have any of the signs of a non-factory refinished gun as all legends and edges are razor sharp, and screw holes are not dished. Indexes and locks up tight. Near mint bore. Remains in excellent to near mint condition with all matching Colt parts showing only light use. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
