Round barrel with military style sights, caliber marking is between rear barrel sight and rear barrel band. Proof marked top of barrel next to receiver and on top of receiver. All wood is American straight grain walnut. Comes with three barrel bands. Stock is equipped with sling swivel and middle barrel band has attachment for sling swivel. Receiver is also blued. Hammer is case colored. Lever is case colored and trigger is blued. Buttplate is of a carbine style buttplate without a trapdoor and is case colored. Barrel retains 95-96% original blue. Rear barrel band has only 30-40% blue. Forward barrel band is 90-95% blue as is middle barrel band. Left receiver retains 95-96% original blue with very light surface scratches. Right receiver is 95-96% original blue with surface scratches. Loading gate retains 98-99% dark Nitre blue. Hammer retains 90-95% dark case colors with drag lines evident. Case color retains 70-80% on lever, both sides and inside of loop lever. Has mostly faded on bottom of lever but colors are visible. Trigger is blued and has 95% plus blue. Right side of stock, straight grain American walnut has few compressions and very few light scratches; no evidence of wood chips missing. Right side with few compressions and few light surface scratches. Majority of wood on stock, the grain has raised, indicating very little handling. Wood to metal fit is very fine and buttplate fits stocks very fine as well, retaining 60-70% strong colors with no trapdoor. Bore is very good with sharp rifling with slight darkness in grooves may have some surface pitting on grooves, but should clean up okay. Mechanics are fine and cycles properly. Factory research states: serial no. 722838 applied August 26th, 1913; no other information available. From the Ray Bentley Collection. CORRECTION: Upon further examination, it appears the middle barrel band is an actual unused replacement given the blue that is darker than the rear band and the front band has had a couple of blue touch-ups.
