Round barrel with traditional sporting front sights and elevator adjustable buckhorn rear sight, blued magazine tube, trigger, forend cap and receiver; case colored hammer with a light drag line on right side; lever is case colored. Comes with two piece American straight grained walnut stocks with a crescent rifle buttplate that is case colored. A superb condition 94 that would be difficult to upgrade. The .38-55 has always been the most sought after big bore cartridge for the 1894 rifle. These guns where hard used as tools for hunters, lawmen and explorers alike. Finding exceptional quality high condition examples is always a struggle. This example would be most difficult to improve upon as it is as new as they come. Extremely fine condition. Round barrel is 98% blued, magazine tube is apparently without any dings or scratches and also 98%. Forearm cap is 98-99%. Receiver overall is 98% blued with the top portion over the chamber area starting to flake somewhat to about 50% dark patina. Breech bolt retains 98% blue. Hammer retains 95-96% with a slight drag line on right side. Lever retains most of its vivid colors on the flat of the rear lever and retains 98-99% bright case colors. Lever link also retains 99% blue. All screw heads indicate no turning and they all are in very fine condition. Straight grain American walnut stock has some impressions with light surface scratches on left and right sides; no cracks or splinters of wood missing on either side next to receiver. Forearm also has light impressions with very light surface scratches. Finish remaining on both stock and forearm 98-99%. Buttplate has all its colors not vivid but colors are evident 98-99%. Bore is bright and shiny with no indication of use. Rifle cycles properly and mechanics are fine. Factory research states: Serial No. 236934 shipped October 1st, 1904 with a round barrel in .38-55 caliber. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
