Referred to as the Contract Model 1927. In 1927-28, the Argentine Army ordered 10,000 Colt Model 1911A1's to be built at Hartford and shipped; following this contract, the Argentine government licensed the 1911A1 for production at Rosario, Argentina at the government factory. The Argentine government built 74,866 pistols at the Domingo Matheu factory in Rosario. They are, in essence, a Colt clone with several minor differences, most of which are aesthetic. The grips are black composite checkered with hollow backs stamped "ARGENTINA". Left side of the frame is stamped "D.G.F.M. - [F.M.A.P.]". The serial number is stamped on the barrel, top of slide, right side of slide and right side of frame. Right side of slide bears the Argentine crest and is stamped "EJERCITO ARGENTINO SIST. COLT. CAL. 11.25 mm. MOD. 1927". All small parts are checkered, including short trigger and wide spur hammer. Extremely difficult to find these pistols in nice condition. This example retains approximately 95% arsenal blue with razor sharp legends and excellent grips. Fine bore and action.
