This magnificent interchangeable four cylinder Orchestral Music Box was made in Geneva, Switzerland circa 1885, by the renowned firm of Allard et Sandoz. The four cylinders measuring 16" long each play aires of varying music, as notated on the original tune label, totaling 32 aires. The arrangement is the prized "Sublime Harmony" consisting of two separate combs dedicated exclusively to the music. There are two separate combs for the nine bells, drum and castagnette. The nine engraved bells are struck by enameled butterflies. Three levers allow the listener to remove each accompaniment if desired. A tune indicator as well as a change at will lever complete the piece. The musical movement is contained in a beautiful burl walnut wood case accented with satinwood handing, tulipwood border and a center Ormolu style inlay of brass, ebony, tulipwood and Mother of Pearl. The inside of the lid and dust cover are accented with pewter inlay banding. The music box retains its original "Tune Label" which is in excellent condition. The entire movement and case has undergone a complete restoration and is truly a spectacular Museum Quality music box. There is a separate decorative case to contain the three additional cylinders. From the collection of Rita Ford Music Boxes.

Item Dimensions: 43" x 17" x 13-1/2".
