This impressive big bore Parker matches all specifications in Serialization ledger except that barrels are listed as 38", they actually measure 40-1/2". Unmatted top rib is engraved front to back "PARKER BROS MAKERS. MERIDEN CONN. TWIST". Barrel flats are stamped with all correct markings with an unstruck weight of 12 lbs 7 oz. They presently weigh 11 lbs 6 oz on a digital scale. Case hardened No. 6 frame has all correct marks on water table, and features automatic safety and double triggers. Action is engraved in typical "P" style with line and geometric borders with splashes of scattered scroll. Trigger guard has serial number at grip. Lightly fiddle figured American walnut Parker capped pistol grip buttstock with large Parker dogs head buttplate with spur. Point pattern checkering is at grip. A vacant German silver shield is on toe line. Matching splinter forend has steel tip and usual Parker release with 1878 patent date. Excellent, near new as very expertly restored. Barrels retain essentially all of a dramatic re-brown yielding spectacular definition to these very well matched twist pattern tubes. Action retains essentially all of a fine re-color. All engraving re-cut. Stocks are very nicely refinished and checkering well re-cut. Head of stock shows a number of exceptionally well done repairs to left side panel, which was shattered. Bores are good, shiny, with scattered pitting throughout. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. "The Parker Story" relates that 72 Grade I eight bore hammerless Parkers were made with seven having 40" barrels. You will have the biggest Parker on your block with this one!
