One of an estimated 72 Parker Grade I top lever hammer guns with twist steel barrels, this gun matches specifications in Serialization ledger. It has 36" barrels marked with Parker address and "Twist" on matted top rib. Flats have all correct marks and an unstruck weight of 8 lbs 13 oz (presently 8 lbs 9 oz). No. 7 frame with fishtail top lever and usual bar locks with rebounding flat faced serpentine hammers, has frame reinforcing beads and check hook. Action and locks are engraved with double line borders, and a spray of scroll on bottom. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Lightly figured American walnut capped pistol grip buttstock with Parker dogs head buttplate with spur. Point pattern checkering is at grip with vacant silver shield at top of grip. Matching splinter forend has steel tip and Parker's Deeley type release with patent date. Good, original, as found. Barrels retain perhaps as much as 40% original brown, which is considerably darkened and stained. Action shows evidence of cleaning, and is now grey with patches of brown and light pitting. Locks have traces of original case hardening color. Trigger guard is all grey and brown. Stocks retain most of their original finish with many marks and areas worn through. Checkering is worn, and has not been cleaned. Bores are good with scattered light pits. Action is slightly loose. Locks are fine. These large waterfowlers often saw heavy use in adverse environments. This gun shows such use but has been well maintained.
