Manufactured 1954, first full year of production. The Colt .357 Magnum Model was manufactured from 1953 to 1961. Features vblued finish, six shot, double action, target adjustable flat top rear sight, high ramp front sight, large target hammer, serrated trigger, grooved backstrap and fitted with a pair of fully checkered walnut grips with silver medallion. These were the exact type of grips used on the early Python but with silver medallions instead of gold. Grips are interchangeable on either model. The only noticeable wear is a touch at muzzle and a ghost drag line. Retains 98% original factory blue. Near mint grips. Fine bore and action. The introduction of the Python spelled the demise of this model, as this revolver pre-dates the Python but was phased out after 1961. A lot of collectors consider this the "Pre-Python" and every collector has at least one example in their collection. Comes in a hinged tan box with original test target, shooting instructions, sight instructions and wax paper. Original end label inside the box. Hinge is broken on box and aprons are busted at corners (easily repairable). Beautiful "Pre-Python" short production Colt.
