This is a sad tale of a rifle that remains in almost brand spanking new condition. All original, does not appear to be fired, but somewhere, sometime a person with extremely acidic hands grabbed the rifle at the rear of the frame and carried it where upon it was put away without cleaning or oiling. The result is the back right half of the frame is solid soft brown patina moving forward to some freckles which turns into 100% brilliant bright factory Colt blue. Right side extractor still has case colors, the forward two screws have all fire blue finish, all feature true screw heads. The same brown patina blends with blue on the rear top of frame about 1" and both upper and lower tang are brown patina. The trigger guard is a mix of blue soft homogeneous patina, the left side of the frame retains 99.9% of the bright factory blue with brilliant colors on extractor, strong colors on hammer, all screws Nitre blue, buttplate has 99% of original blue finish with fire blue screws, and a couple of flakes on upper buttplate tang. The wood has a few light impressions, the checkered forend is near mint with brilliant bright blue screws, the barrel and magazine retain 99.9% original blue, not even any muzzle wear nor even any high edge wear at magazine, has razor sharp blued edges with razor sharp legends. Mirror bore and as new action. Standard features include: full octagon barrel, full magazine, rocky mountain front sight, sporting rear sight, blue finish, walnut stocks, and rifle buttplate. This is the closest example to a Colt Lightning Pump unfired rifle. Even as the right frame drips to patina it is still one of the most handsome examples we have seen. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
