A few thousand estimated to have been made between 1885 and 1910. This example, with a 20% barrel is scarce and worth a premium. Blued round barrel with front sight and small rear sight for 100, 300, and 500 yards. Casehardened action with ring bar and ring on left side, blued small parts, block, and hammer. Left side of action with "RV" stamp. Patent dates and address on top tang. Blued buttplate and single "U" stamped barrel band. Two-piece plain walnut stocks, stamped "34" behind bottom action tang. Very good condition, strong action and excellent shiny bore. Barrel retains 40-50% blue finish, concentrated on breech half, front half thinned to grey-brown patina with scattered corrosion and brown spots. Action retains about 70-80% case colors, some areas faded. Blued parts retain about 90% finish, buttplate with thinning blue finish. Stock very good with a few storage marks and one small chip in front of action, on bottom of forend. A very scarce carbine. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
