29 1/2 inch barrel chambered for the 11X59 rimmed cartridge. The model 1885 serial number 1962 with magazine cutoff fixed front military style sight and ladder adjustable rear sight. Two piece walnut stocks with French cartouche on right side of butt with serial number on opposite side. Rust blue finish overall with bolt and internal operating parts polished bright. Internal tubular magazine. Outstanding rifle made in very limited quantities in France for Military use by France. quickly replaced by the newer high velocity 8mm Lebel cartridge. Very fine condition with over 80% of the factory applied finish remaining. bore and mechanics are very fine. Wood stocks are very good with a number of small bruises and abrasions but no cracks or material loss. Brass tipped wiping rod is still present .Bright steel trigger guard and butt plate have slight surface corrosion but should clean up fine.
