Dovetailed barrels with swamped game rib are engraved "W. & C. Scott Gunmakers" and "Birmingham England" on tops. Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Importers name and address (A & F) are on bottom rib. Case hardened boxlock action with automatic safety and double triggers is engraved with 50% coverage scroll. Blued top lever, floorplate, trigger plate and trigger guard are also scroll engraved. "CROWN" is under a crown on trigger plate, and serial number is on trigger guard tang. Attractive lightly marbled somewhat stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8" over checkered wood butt and features classic drop points as well as point pattern checkering at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Gun is housed in its original tan canvas case with leather trim. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth and has gold embossed black leather Scott label in lid. Case contains cleaning equipment, snap caps, square oil bottle, along with consignors notes. Excellent condition. Barrels retain nearly all of their original blue with a few slight marks. Action retains nearly all of its original case hardening color. Blued parts retain nearly all of their blue, and stocks retain essentially all of their original finish with a few light marks; most notably scratches and marks on left side panel. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Mechanically excellent. Case canvas is lightly soiled and faded. Straps and handle are good. Interior cloth is excellent, as are label and accessories. W & C Scott guns generally have better fit and finish than those also made by, but retailed by Webley & Scott. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
