Shoe lump barrels with slightly raised flat matted rib have factory markings on sides. Barrel flats are stamped with year 2000 German nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Coin finished ogee backed boxlock action features automatic safety, crossbolt third fastener, bushed strikers, side clips, reinforced frame, and single selective trigger. Action is engraved with 90% coverage scroll, along with line and geometric borders surrounding well cut game scenes on sides; a trio of quail are on left side, with three wood pigeons (?) on right. Left hand scene is signed by master engraver "GR" (Gunter Richter). Attractively marbled and lightly figured dark European walnut straight grip buttstock with composition Merkel buttplate. Attenuated point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching semi-beavertail ejector forend has Deeley release. Gun is housed in a brown leather case with leather corners, lined in green felt. A gold and black Merkel label is in lid. Case contains straps, cleaning equipment, snap caps, and square oil bottle. Excellent, very close to new, with only a few very minor assembly and handling marks in all wood and metal finishes. Mechanically excellent. Case is excellent. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
