This revolver was made 1854 to 1856. This is a Second Model with the large trigger guard. trigger guard and backstrap are iron. You will find full or matching serial numbers on the frame, barrel, loading lever, wedge, cylinder rod, cylinder, trigger guard and backstrap. Revolver is English proofed on barrel and cylinder. Address on top reads "ADDRESS. COL. COLT. LONDON". Cylinder has the Naval engagement roll engraved scene at nearly 100%. Barrel exhibits approximately 20% original blue, balance simply flaked to a smooth grey-brown patina with razor sharp edges and legends Cylinder has 20% blue but basically brown patina. Traces of blue on trigger guard and backstrap. 40% case colors on left and right sides of frame. Traces of case colors on hammer. Excellent varnished walnut one piece grips are slightly shy to metal. Grip straps are grey. Indexes and locks up like new. Strong rifling. Housed in a correct English oak case with dealer label and lined in blue velvet. Includes a Dixon bag flask stamped "COLTS NAVY FLASK", a Joyce London cap tin, Colt two cavity mold No. 36B, unmarked nipple wrench and cleaning rod. From the G. Thomas Puett Collection.
