This deluxe lightweight takedown features a full round barrel, Lyman ivory bead front sight, folding two leaf folding rear sight, tang sight, blue finish, case colored lever and hammer, half magazine, takedown, and deluxe fiery grain triple-X walnut pistol grip checkered stocks with Winchester hard rubber buttplate. Barrel, tube, forend, and takedown band retain all of what appears to be a factory refinish. The lever and hammer retain the majority of the Winchester colors but thinning and spots. The high polish blue frame has browning and freckling at the base, and some browning and freckling on the top right frame. Wood is near mint and proud to metal with fine checkering. Due to the wear on the frame and the ageing, we think this is a period repair or work order from Winchester that would be nearly undetectable, except for the evidence of the washed out "P" on the frame. Fine bore and action. According to factory research, serial No. 145113 was shipped on January 7th, 1909 with a nickel steel barrel, oil finish, takedown, shotgun rubber butt, half magazine, Winchester high velocity, plain trigger, pistol grip checkered stock, 22" extra light round barrel in .45-70 caliber. It was returned for repair twice in 1910 on March 17th and December 15th, which could explain the factory type refinish on the frame. CORRECTION: It has come to our attention that the receiver has been professionally refinished at an earlier date.
