Few such cases are extant. This case will house a 7-1/2” etched panel or fancy engraved circa 1890 Colt Single Action Army Frontier Six Shooter revolver and .44 cartridge box. We know of no others coming to market without a gun. This case is similar to other Panel Scene cases that contain famous scarce Panel Scene Colt Single action Army’s. We attribute this case to Hartley & Graham of New York, due to the outer construction, the ribbon on inside that is printed in gold COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER", the satin lining, the cord piping, bunched finish; similar examples can be seen "The Story of Merwin Hulbert & Company Firearms" by Art Phelps, First Edition on pages 58, 63, 64, 68 and 69, albeit the majority of these has cartridge blocks and this example has a space for a box of cartridges. As to condition, this case is fine as restored; all original except cord and left leather loop to handle. The case was acquired from Ray Bentley about 3 years ago and went thru extensive restoration. The blue satin remains bright with little to no fading, a few oil and scuff marks. Display ribbon is sharp as new. Corners on the box are intact and tight. Exterior is period textured leather pattern cloth and shows only minor surface wear. An extraordinary opportunity to purchase that special case for your Colt Frontier Six Shooter.
